Home Insulation
Blow In Fiberglass and Cellulose Insulation
Blow-in insulation is most commonly used to insulate attics in new and existing homes. In existing homes, insulation is blown over the top of any existing insulation to increase the R-value of the home.
Prior to insulating an attic, we recommend air sealing the attic to reduce air leaks around:
- Skylights.
- Recessed can lights and other utility penetrations.
- Joints and seams.
- Attic access openings.
- Chimneys and chases adjacent to exterior walls.
Blow-in insulation is also used to reinsulate walls of existing homes through an application called “drill and fill.” In this application, our installer team simply removes an area of exterior siding and drills a small hole into the sidewall, which is then filled with insulation. The hole cover is then replaced and sealed, and the siding replaced.

Blow-in insulation can also be used in an application called BIBs. A BIB system is installed in new construction where blow-in insulation is installed behind a special fabric. This installation technique creates a seamless blanket that fills voids in walls, including around any electrical protrusions.
Either cellulose or fiberglass insulation can be used in a blow-in insulation application. Our team can recommend the right type of insulation for your project.
